We were granted long-sought public not-for-profit 501c-3 status! Because we award stipends as a part of our mission, they are classified much as scholarships and, thus, made the criteria far stricter than for most 501c-3s; it appears that we had to prove all that a university or college must show in order to be awarded this status.

Our annual operating expenses come close to fifteen thousand dollars. Such expenses as rent, stipend, recruitment, the juroring competition, studio space are but some of the obvious reasons we need your support. This budget is required to provide two five week residencies to emerging Maine artists. It is a fine way to continue the rich history of Monhegan's Art.
